State visit to UK
Matthew Perret, our euro communication member in the UK provided the interpreting for the first visit of a foreign head of state to new UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown in July 2007. Jose Socrates, Portuguese PM, was able to outline his plans for the Portuguese presidency of the EU, and UK-Portugal cooperation, in his own language, while the English interpretation was broadcast live on the UK media.
